Breeding Contract

We require the points below be met in order for you to purchase a breeding cat from Saving Sophie Cattery/ Hermes Exotics Bengal Sanctuary. Please Read them carefully and be prepared to show proof of any items you need to arrange for before the kitten is shipped to you.

___ You must have a TICA registered cattery to breed this cat. You can obtain a cattery name at www.TICA.org.

___ Any offspring of this cat that are sold as pets MUST be sold already spayed or neutered.

___ All kittens born from said cat are to be sold with TICA registration papers and health guarantees.

___ This cat is being sold as a breeder, and as such must be maintained in a controlled environment. The cat should never be allowed outside, nor should it be kept in an outdoor run that is excessively cold or hot.

___ No replacements will be offered for cosmetic faults in the kittens produced of any type such as tail faults, lockets, lack of color contrast, etc. Seller does not guarantee the quality of kittens produced nor that the cat may carry unwanted recessive genes.

___ If there is any questions as to the fertility of the cat the seller reserves the right to all medical records of said cat and will request a written statement from the Veterinarian. Once this is done the buyer is responsible for altering the cat and the seller will offer a replacement kitten.

  • Fertility is guaranteed given sufficient time (2 years) and opportunity.

  • Definition of fertility is that the cat will impregnate a female Bengal or get pregnant and deliver.

  • There is no guarantee of the parenting ability of said cat.

  • If there is a question of fertility the cat must be returned to the seller for a period of six months ( at the buyers cost ) during spring breeding.

  • If the cat is determined to be infertile the seller will replace it with a kitten of equal or greater value from the next litter.

  • All costs for shipping of the cats will be born by the buyer.

___ Kittens are not guaranteed to be fertile if bred before ten months of age.

___ Cats are not guaranteed to be fertile if a proven female does not reside on the premises.

___ No kittens from said cat will ever be offered for sale to animal brokers, research laboratories, pet shops or their agents.

___ Once bred there are no replacements or refunds given.

___ If at any time the buyer decides to sell this cat, the seller has the first option to purchase it back and also has the right to know who the other interested parties are.

Note: The process of breeding is not to be taken lightly and breeders must take measures to educate themselves on the subject. Buyer understands that female cats used for breeding do not do well in small cages and hereby agrees to provide the cat with adequate living space in an area free from parasites and or disease and to furnish said cat with a high quality diet.

Buyer also understands that breeding cats spray and may not use the litter box. Proper housing must be provided for breeding cats. Male stud cats can fight to the death if they can get to each other. Female breeders will often spray and fight with other cats. Providing proper housing also includes secure caging to be used when needed to prevent injury.
